Key ideas
- “Playing to Win” strategy framework. Strategy = integrated choices around winning aspiration, where to play, how to win. Forces explicit decisions about where not to invest.
- Horizon allocation shifting over years. Resource ratios across three horizons shift deliberately as the company matures; the allocation itself communicates strategic intent.
- Phase-gated commitments. Only commit to dates for the immediate next phase (discovery → solutioning → build → launch/iterate). No false promises six months out.
- PLG + enterprise transition. Bottom-up scheduling tool naturally attracted enterprise use; added a sales layer on top without abandoning PLG dynamics.
